This past weekend, we attended the MI Education Options Expo. We met other folks helping parents make decisions about their children’s education. And we met parents looking for resources and support on their education journey. This expo covered more than just homeschooling: it had everything from homeschool curriculum, to vocational training, private schools, and even a couple of adorable bunnies (real ones!).
It was a great opportunity to hear about parents’ challenges and offer up the many ways Scholaright can help. We heard positive feedback from attendees about our transcripts. Other attendees were amazed to hear that Scholaright costs only $5/month for the whole family. We know big homeschool families and we get that there is only so much money to go around. That’s why we are committed to simple, fair pricing. Check out our digital brochure.
While in the area, we also struck up a conversation with a homeschool dad about graduation requirements. He wanted to know if the state of Michigan requires a Physical Education credit for homeschoolers to graduate. Michigan, like many states, leaves the graduation decision up to parents when they educate at home (including physical education, so it’s not a requirement unless you make it one), while the state and local school districts set requirements for public schools. On top of that, the colleges your student may be interested in can have their own requirements for admission. So, while your state may be one that doesn’t set specific requirements for graduation, it’s still important to:
- Consult a legal professional about requirements in your jurisdiction
- Be aware of what colleges expect
- Make sure that your student is on track with their public school peers, should you plan to ever enroll them in public school or move to another state with different requirements
Scholaright helps by allowing you to set your own graduation requirements or follow guidelines based on your state or province’s public school requirements. We aren’t legal professionals, so these guidelines are only for your convenience, and we always recommend consulting a legal professional to know you are protected by law.

It’s been great meeting more fellow homeschooling families and we’re only getting started. Next month, we will be in Iowa and Indiana for the Homeschool Iowa Conference (June 5-6) and the Midwest Homeschool Expo (June 13). Be sure to stop by and say hello! And if you can’t make it, you can still grab some of our free coloring pages:
